Why I love those silly Beatles cartoons

by Mitchell Axelrod, author of "Beatletoons - The Real Story Behind The Cartoon Beatles"

In my travels promoting my book "Beatletoons - The Real Story Behind The Cartoon Beatles", many people have asked me, "why do you have such a passion for the Beatles cartoon series?" I thought long and hard about that question and I have come up with an answer. But in order to explain, I have to take you "back through the midst of time" (apologies to Sir Paul for using his tour line).

My experiences of these cartoons are identical to yours!I was afraid of the world during the '70s and these shows was my "comfort food".

I know they have their (funny) goofs, but I also adore these cartoons. they're entertaining and funny, and they're one of the only cartoons I still watch.

I don't remember these cartoons growing up, but I knew of them. When I found Mitchell's book - I was thrilled. I bought copies of the cartoons off of eBay and my son took them over from me. He was 3 at the time, and he still loves them and watches them. They are so much fun. BTW - Mitchell - you were good enough to send me an autographed copy of your book after I got a faulty copy that was missing images. It's one of my prized possessions!

Beatletoons is a great book. It's a "must have" for any Beatles completist. It's an easy read with lots of interesting illustrations and rarely seen photographs.
When I was about 11 years old (early 70's) I saw the re-broadcast of the cartoon series. It had a profound affect on me. I thought "And Your Bird Can Sing" was the best song I'd ever heard.
I still do.
Cheers to Mitchell for assembling this wonderful reference.

I, too, watched them when they first premiered in 1965. I was 8 years old, and was an enormous Beatles fan (I especially liked George), and even though the cartoons were silly most of the time, I enjoyed them.
